'Blue Porsche' - A recent Private Commission, painted in oils, size 42 x 30cm. Most of the paintings I've done of late have just involved the 5 basic colours. It is a method of panting that helps you understand the relationships between different shades and tones of colour.Because I had a limited time in which to produce this I used fast drying tube oil paints. This meant that the paint was dry enough to carry on after a few hours. I gave myself a 2 week window in which finish while working on other things.
The drawing transferred onto the prepared board from a photo reference by using trace-down method.
The car was masked off to prevent the detail from disappearing. There is a temptation, always to peak under the mask while painting the surrounding background, which I avoided doing.
Once happy with the background detailing I moved onto the most difficult part, painting in the wheels. While at the same time starting on the passengers and windscreen.
The last part of the car was the bodywork itself. With adjustments here and there on the car.
