'Joey' - This is an equestrian portrait of my friend's ex-racehorse!
'Distant Spring Rain' - Inspired by a Late Roman (5th Century) re-enactment I took part in, in 2014 at Old Sarum, Wiltshire UK. The show had an 'Arthurian' theme, so the rider in the painting is on patrol in the Northern Welsh border country and he comes across one the Manx crosses dotted around the landscape. The inscription you see does exist.
'Artorius Triumphant'- Inspired by the same event for 'Distant Spring Rain'. This painting was an experiment to see how egg tempera would behave on fake parchment paper. The pose for the fallen Saxon warrior and Late Roman cavalry rider comes from Greek & Roman building friezes and heaadstones.
